Depression therapy for when the fog won't lift
Depression is heavier than a bad week. It's the version of you that can't remember what used to feel good. Therapy won't rush you out of it — but it can hand you back some choice.
In person in Oak Lawn, IL & Marietta, GA · Telehealth across Illinois, Georgia & Florida

People come to us describing depression in different words: exhausted, flat, disconnected, going through the motions, snapping at people they love, sleeping too much, or wide awake at 4 a.m. Some have been carrying it since adolescence. Some got hit sideways after a birth, a breakup, a diagnosis, or a job that quietly ate them.
The point of therapy here isn't to talk you out of what you're feeling. It's to help you see clearly what's yours, what's circumstance, and what the depression has convinced you is true when it isn't. From that clearer ground, small changes start to actually move the needle.
How we help
Our clinicians blend evidence-based frameworks with the practicality of a strengths-based lens. That means we honor what's already working in your life — even when it feels like nothing is — and build from there.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to challenge the depressive thought patterns that feel like truth
- Solution-Focused Therapy to find the exception moments and expand them
- Strengths-Based work that names your resources, not just your deficits
- Motivational Interviewing when even starting feels like too much
- Behavioral activation — the smallest doable next step, then the next
- Coordination of care when medication or medical workup may help

The 'invisible' versions of depression
High-functioning depression, postpartum lows, grief-shaped depression, and depression that hides behind irritability all show up in this office. So does the kind that's been misread as laziness, difficult personality, or 'just how I am.' We take it seriously without pathologizing you.

Common questions
-
I'm not sad exactly — just flat. Is that still depression?
Yes, it can be. Depression often shows up as numbness, disinterest, or a low-grade 'nothing feels good' more than tears. If motivation, sleep, or appetite have shifted for weeks and don't seem to be bouncing back, it's worth bringing in.
-
How is your approach different from just 'positive thinking'?
We don't ask you to reframe your way out of a chemical, situational, or relational reality. We use CBT to test the beliefs that got installed when you were exhausted, solution-focused work to spot the small moves already working, and strengths-based care to build from what's actually here.
-
How long does it take to feel better?
Most people notice something shift within the first four to eight sessions — not 'cured,' but a little more room to breathe. From there we titrate frequency to what your life can hold.
-
What if I've tried therapy before and it didn't stick?
Fit is a real variable. Tell us what didn't land last time; we'll match you with a clinician whose style is different, and we'll check in early about whether it feels like it's going somewhere.
