Dr. Dana Hickman

Hi, my name is Dana Stamps, and I hold a Master of Counseling degree from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I also have a Doctoral degree in Community Psychology. I specialize in trauma, addictions, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, building healthy relationships, adolescence, budgeting, mood disorders, personality disorders, career change, grief, stress, and setting healthy boundaries. I have worked in public health and education for over 20 years in maternal and child health, HIV/Aids, obesity, health disparities, and policy. I counsel through a therapeutic lens and my goal is to create a authentic therapeutic relationship between myself and clients. I foster a judgement free environment where clients are free to be their authentic selves. Working in communities and having a Doctoral degree in community psychology I not only focus on the individual, but on the community in which they live being a resource and helping through systemic issues that contribute to mental health. I am a woman of faith and believe that everyone has the autonomy to practice in the faith of their choice and use this as a support during therapy. I counsel from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Perspective, while also using Person-Centered, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, and Client centered where my goal is to empower clients to reach their goals and greatest potential to becoming the best version of themselves.
